It is required that each shooter
attempt to create an alias and dress the part.
The truly unique aspect of Cowboy Action Shooting is the
requirement placed on authentic period dress. Each participant is usually
required to adopt an alias and develop a costume accordingly. Any valiant
attempt will be accepted, for example a plaid shirt with Jeans
and a Cowboy type hat is acceptable. Not acceptable however are baseball
caps, sneakers, and camo fatigues. That's a different shooting sport.
There are a wide range of
shotguns, rifles, and revolvers that meet the requirements to shoot in the
match, for detailed information please review

Scoring is based on using SASS standard ranking method of
scoring. Basically matches are scored upon elapsed shooting time and added
penalty points, generally five seconds, for missed shots.
